![]() ![]() ![]() I do not understand why Gary Cohn, who is much richer than Trump, issued such a statement. But none of them has disputed the truth of Woodward’s damning narrative. The White House has even strong-armed sources such as Jim Mattis, Rob Porter, and Gary Cohn into issuing non-denial denials. Woodward is, of course, hawkish and quite conservative: I’m unsure if he’s still a registered Republican but he used to be. ![]() The Insult Comedian and his idiotic minions have attacked the book as “fake news” and “fiction” and denounced Woodward as a tool of the Democrats. Trump always comes off worse than expected. That’s never been the case with any book about Donald Trump even Hitler liked children and dogs whereas Trump is indifferent to the former and hates the latter. When reading a book like this, you usually learn that its subject has some redeeming characteristics. ![]()

![]() ![]() There’s also been a tendency towards the melodramatic throughout the series (the dénoument of The Sum of All Kisses, I’m looking at YOU!) which I’ve found somewhat jarring when once again set against Ms Quinn’s usually more lighthearted fare. She’s known principally for deftly written romantic comedies full of sparkling wit and humour, but this book – this series, in fact – has employed some darker themes which haven’t always sat well in conjunction with her normally light, comedic style. The questions as to the hero’s…well, hero-ness then struck me as being something that isn’t quite in Julia Quinn’s normal way. ![]() But when I reached the end of the book, I found I was thinking of him as a decent man who had been backed into a corner and who made a very poor decision as a result rather than as a truly horrible person. All the negative comments I’ve seen concern the actions of the hero, the eponymous Sir Richard, who – it’s true – perpetrates a rather despicable deception on the heroine. ![]() I’ve seen a lot of very mixed reactions to this book, which is the final novel in the author’s Smythe-Smith Quartet. ![]() ![]() ![]() More likely, he knew those sounds as well as those of the town. Lost elsewhere in thought, perhaps he didn’t hear ever-so-soft footfalls among the trees. He was quiet and still, for he was not truly looking for anything out there. Unfortunately, he is also America’s most-wanted domestic terrorist. Former Navy SEAL James Reece is the only and crucial connection to a shadowy former Iraqi commando who could provide leads the CIA desperately needs. There is just one man who stands a chance of answering these questions. Who is pulling the strings? What is their motive? And most important of all, how can the attacks be stopped before bloodshed and economic freefall bring America and her allies to their knees? As the scope of the mayhem grows ever wider, pulling in country after country, the United States goes on the offensive. This, it turns out, is just the beginning of a series of coordinated and murderous attacks against the whole of the Western world. I adored the heroine’s chutzpah and how she never wavered in doing what was right, but ultimately the timing of this release against our current news cycle halted the majority of my excitement. It has a phenomenally gorgeous cover and the hero is Frank Tripp, a charming lawyer who we’ve met in other books. The Rogue of Fifth Avenue is a spin-off series from The Four Hundred series, though this book operates just fine on its own. Most are off the page, save for the latter. TW/CW: Domestic abuse, murder, sexual violence. ![]() ![]() Their love for each other is portrayed as unoriginal and irresponsible. One thing that I hate about Hazel and Augustus’ relationship is how sped up their feelings are. I truly cannot comprehend why so many people adore this book… what’s the appeal? I find none of the elements in the book captivating, or interesting. To be honest, I am not quite sure why this novel aggravated me so much, to the point that I can still rant about it years later. The plot is not much better, as it has the same boring and overused plot used in YA fiction. To start, the character’s personality is paper-thin and easily detestable. Recommendation : Let me just warn you, I have a LOT of opinions about this book. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.(Goodreads) ![]() Summary: Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis.
